Rocky Ridge Eskipoo

(American Eskimo/Poodle)

Rocky Ridge Eskipoo Puppies: Welcome

About the Rocky Ridge Eskipoo

The eskipoo is a designer breed that is made by crossing a poodle with an American Eskimo Dog. Here at Rocky Ridge, we use only purebred parents (poodle dad and American Eskimo mom) to produce our eskipoo puppies. The benefits of the cross include that they are non-shedding, that they get some of the eskie's hardiness and that they combine the best of the two breeds personality and intelligence into a very adorable family pet. Their eager bouncy personality has been a real hit with our customers and has resulted in a steady stream of referral customers who want to add one to their family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the eskipoo easy to train?

Both the poodle and the American Eskimo are known to be smart dogs and easy to train and the eskipoo inherits both the smarts and trainability of it's parents.

Does the eskipoo shed?

The feedback we have gotten from our customers is that our eskipoo puppies are very low to no shedding. It does not seem to make any difference what color or coat texture they have.

Are they hypoallergenic?

We do not label these dogs as hypoallergenic. We have had good success placing them in homes with mild allergies but some peoples allergies can still react to them. There may be some difference between puppies. We recommend that if you have a known dog allergy, that you come play with a puppy for awhile before the day you take it home, to see if you have any reaction.

Do they bark a lot?

The eskipoo is not particularly vocal but as it gets older will tend to bark at sights and sounds. It will need to be trained to quit barking on command.

How often do they need to be groomed?

Because the eskipoo does not shed it will need to be groomed regularly to keep it's coat manageable. About every 2 months on average for grooming and you should brush it's coat regularly to prevent matting.

Do they suffer from separation anxiety?

The eskipoo thrives on attention and loves being around people. It may take some time for your puppy to adjust to being left alone. Being left alone for long periods of time is not recommended.

How much exercise does an eskipoo need?

The eskipoo has a moderate energy level. An hour walking or play time in a fenced yard each day will probably be sufficient.

How big do they grow?

We breed various sizes of eskipoo ranging from 12-25 lbs. as adults.
